About The Artist
At the age of twelve, JoAnn Bosowski was introduced to the magic of oil painting by her father Angelo Joseph LaPonza. Angelo was a self-taught landscape and seascape artist.
Before becoming completely immersed in oil painting, Bosowski spent many years pursuing the art of photography, which has influenced her realist style.
Greatly admiring John Singer Sargent and Rembrandt, she began painting portraits by reproducing many of their masterpieces. Bosowski gravitates toward portraiture and still-life, enjoying the detailed work they require. She works on one painting at a time devoting six to eight hours a day until its completion.
She has studied under master portrait-painter Daniel E. Greene in New York , Jeremy Lipking at the California Art Institute and with award-winning portraitist Adrian Gottlieb in his Atelier program in Echo Park, Califonia.
Jo Ann Bosowski’s love, enthusiasm, and talent for painting have led her to embark on a life-long journey of study, learning, experimenting and becoming highly skilled at the art of creating a masterpiece. A journey filled with acres and acres of canvas.
