How Claris Filter Cartridges Work

The Caris Plus Water Care Filter snaps into the water reservoir to insure premium tasting coffee and espresso while it protects your espresso machine by reducing the calcification that builds up in the boiler. Water is drawn from the reservoir, through the filter and into the boiler. Claris filter cartridges will help reduce the frequency of decalcification cycles necessary to maintain your espresso machine.

Claris: Giving your coffee machine the gentle touch

Claris filter cartridges are specially made for use with Jura coffee machines. These uique cartridges are placed directly in the water reservoir, and are maade from purely organic materials with no chemical additives. Claris filter cartridges will help you to protect your machine and extend its life.

Claris: Water for the finest coffee

The organic ion exchangers and activated charcoal reduce limescale deposits, heavy metals and other contaminants, as well as substances such as chlorine which impair the flavour or aroma of the coffee. Flouride and other substances essential to health remain in the water. The following substances (if present) are filtered out of the water:

• Carbon hardness: up to 75%
• Chlorine: up to 85%
• Lead: up to 90%
• Copper: up to 95%
• Aluminum: up to 67%

Claris: Everything you expect

Unlike other water filter systems, Claris uses the professional upward current principle. This means that only the water drawn up by the machine and needed to prepare the coffee is filtered, immediately before it is used. This guaruntees the you will get the optimum benefit from the filter, and ensures that you will have freshly filtered water every time you make coffee or tea.

The filter does not require any accessories or take up any extra space. It can be placed straight in the reservoir.

The filter cartridge can be used in all Jura coffee machines fitted with IPWS (Integrated Pure Water System).

Always follow Manufacturers instructions and guidelines regarding care of your espresso machine.

Claris: Proper use

Claris filter cartridges are recommended for water exceeding 10° on ther German hardness scale.

To check the hardness of the water in your home, use the Aquadur testing stick supplied with your Jura machine.

Claris: What you need to know

The filter cartridge should be replaced after 50 litres (approx. 350 draw-offs) or after two months at the latest. Follow the instructions below under "Claris: Instructions for use".

Cleaning the water reservoir

You can leave the cartridge in place when you rinse out or refill the water reservoir.

Remove the cartridge if you are using cleaning products to clean the water reservoir.

If the machine will not be used for some time, proceed as follows:

1. Empty the water reservoir (there is no need to remove the cartridge).
2. Place the reservoir back in the machine.
3. When you next use the machine, we recommend that you draw 1/2 litre of water throught the machine first. This water may become discoloured, but this is not dangerous to health.

Please note

Claris water filters should be kept out of reach of children.

Store filter cartridges in a dry place in the unopened packet, and protect from heat and direct sunlight.

Never try to open Claris filter cartridges.

- Do not use faulty or damaged cartridges.

Recycling cartridges

Please return used cartridges to your specialist supplier, who will forward them to the manufacturer. The materials used in the cartridge will then be recycled as part of the production process.

Claris: Instructions for use

How to use Claris filter cartridges

1. Empty the water reservoir of your coffee machine and raise the cartridge holder. Remove the filter cartridge from the packet and press it lightly into the water reservoir.
2. Close the cartridge holder until you hear it click into place.
3. On the cartridge holder there is a special rotating disc to set the replacement date (two months after the cartridge is fitted). You can set both the month and the week of the month.
4. Fill the water reservoir with cold, fresh tap water, and put it back in the machine.
5. To activate the filter cartridge, and to ensure that it will work perfectly, every time you change the cartridge you should draw through half a reservoir of water from the hot water supply and pour it away. This water may be slightly discoloured (not harmful to health).
6. Refill the reservoir with cold, fresh tap water
7. When you have adjusted the hardness of the water, your machine can be used to make coffee, espresso, hot water or steam.

Adjusting water hardness

If you are using Claris filter cartridges in the Impressa machines, adjust the hardness of the water in accordance with the instructions for using your machine. Read the section headed "Adjusting water hardness".

Espresso Machine Compatability

Choose the Filter for your specific espresso machine.

Select "Claris plus" for Jura Commercial machines, or any Jura or Jura Capresso machine that specifies Claris filters. Krups XP2070 and Krups XP9000 also use the Claris or Claris Plus filters. Capresso Espresso Pro also uses these filters. Impressa, Nespresso N90/N9.

Select Bosch for Filters that are used in Bosch Benvenuto B20 and B 30 espresso machines. These filters are the 4Model 7525 filters.

Select Capresso C1500, C1300 or Capresso Pro, for filters that work with these specific espresso machines. These are the Model 7525 filters. EspresssoPro #112. We have separated them for ease of use in ordering.

Currently, we >do not offer Clearyl filters which are used with Jura Capresso Z5, Z6, S9, S7, E9, E8, or F7 espresso machines.
