Rancilio Silvia V3 with PID
Rancilio Silvia V3 with PID
Why Use A PID?
There is a narrow range of optimum temperatures for making great espresso. Unfortunately in the Silvia, as in most other machines that cost under $1,000, exists a simple button thermostat that permits temperature variations of more than 60 degrees! This means that most of the time the water that is going into your coffee is either too hot or cold. With a PID you decide what temperature you want the water to be and the machine will idle at that setting within 1 degree. The PID can also be set to read in celsius.
Benefits of Using the PID
- Consistently high quality espresso shots
- Silvia will not cook the water out of the boiler, so leave it on all day for greater convenience. (Espresso machines costing over $1,200 boast this feature)
- Less power use - save money from less wasted heat
- Unit will last longer from less thermal stress on boiler and other parts
- Reduces water waste and mineral build up
- No temperature surfing needed
Includes
- New Rancilio Silvia V3
- Computer PID temperature control
- Full two year parts and labor warranty
What We Do
Install and setup the precision, industrial (PID) microcontroller to maintain the exact temperature you set. We mount it in the center externally as pictured. There are no exposed wires, plastics, glues or velcro used to mount the PID.
Install a calibrated thermocouple sensor on the boiler to read temperature, and a completely silent solid state switch to control power to the heater.
We will set up and calibrate with an accurate digital thermometer to assure that temperature regulation is within 1 degree.
For all our machines we run a 48 hour "burn-in" test and pull some espresso shots for taste testing.
Note: We require a lead time of 2-3 business days to install and test your machine
